Our Story

In August 2000, our Founder and President, Chris Cicogna took a job in the construction department of the largest pool contracting company in the Coachella Valley. After two years in construction, Chris realized that the sales department was where the action was. He discussed the possibility of a sales assistant position with the sales manager, and his interest in sales and company growth. The following week Chris started as a sales assistant for the most successful sales person in that company’s history. Over the next year Chris learned many valuable lessons in sales, design and marketing. In 2003, he was awarded Salesman of the Year for outstanding efforts in designing, and selling 96 residential and commercial swimming pool projects across the entire Coachella Valley.

A Well Respected Company

For the next several years, Chris worked in sales, sharpening his skills in business, marketing, sales strategies and construction management. In early 2008, Chris and his wife Anna welcomed the birth of their son Benjamin. With new found responsibility, Chris made the decision that in order to properly provide for his growing family, it was time to start his own company.

Competitive West Pool Construction was started in June 2008. There were many struggles starting a new construction company in such a terrible recession. Fortunately for Chris, he had many past customers, and builder relationships who were eager to support the new company. Over the next several years Competitive West Pool Construction has grown to be a well respected company among local business and trade partners alike.
